Today's Bible Verse

I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Philippians 3:12–14

From the Book

I’m praying for you to be able to focus on running toward the heavenly prize. [Part 2]

Paul saw this life in Christ as a race that has a finish line. And he was focused on finishing his race well. He wanted to continue to invest everything he could in advancing the kingdom of God. He refused to allow the suffering of prison to lull him into complacency or comfort- seeking or self-centeredness. Rather than focusing on being cold, forgotten, treated harshly, and unjustly accused, Paul was focused on the ultimate goal of  life in Christ: to reach the end of  the race and receive the heavenly prize, the Father’s “well done.” He was focused on living all out for Christ in this life, believing that it would result in reward and gladness in the life to come.

Ashley's Note

These days, God is making me contemplate about being responsible of my prayer. I had prayed for the revival of young Christians in their 20s and 30s, expecting the fire from heaven above to be upon us during the worship service. Instead, God is making me face individuals who are suffering. Their suffering is mainly caused by crimes, but if you look really close, you would know that the very seed of these types of suffering is from our sinful nature. They are asking why these things happen to them. One of them even said that she felt like God is punishing her for not being faithful. This is why I've turned myself to read this book, <I'm Praying for You> once again. For I'm praying for the revival, I can't no longer cover my ears and choose to take a step away from their pain. There is no room for complacency. It is God's call for me to take a responsibility of my prayer from the past. It is also God's invitation for me to pray once again and witness how God is renewing their souls for the true revival. Yes, Lord. Let Your will be done.
